Was going to be a reply, but it got long and I figured, what the hell, might as well make it a post

My totally awesome wallpaper right now

Right, was just going to reply to a couple of comments, then realized it got long and…yea, just read the title 😄

Anyway, I never figured that a regular release schedule would bother people XD, would have thought it would be the other way around.  I guess the saying is true, you really can’t please everyone. To answer your questions, nope, I haven’t received any commissions for this manga. Would be happy to receive any though if only so I can get volume 4 when it comes out ^^ *hint hint* (Plus, regardless, if you can, buy the manga to support the author, a bit sad he doesn’t include random lol 4-komas on the cover like Hayate, which omg, next chapter is coming out soon! Hina <3!!! But I digress…derailed by Hina, totally justifiable)

As for how long it takes to scanlate this manga. Well, there are advantages and disadvantages to working solo. I’ll pop up the disadvantages first. More people generally means that whoever is doing whatever is probably going to be specialised at whatever whomever is doing. Would probably be faster in that task and be better as well. People will be less susceptible to burnout and I guess there’s the wonderful option of working multiple pages in parallel.

And as for the advantages, well, stuff is more streamlined I suppose. Since everything is done by one person, I can typically just clean the pages, then directly pop in the text all in one go. In a sense, unless it’s a really difficult and annoying manga requiring haxskillzors to translate and clean, I suppose this is slightly faster since there’s no need for the translator to write everything onto a script, the typesetter to read from the script and type it in, sending the files back and forth etc. I’m still pretty new to this (lol, not sure if I can still say that after these couple of months) but generally it takes me about 1.5 to 2 hours for a chapter, sometimes more. Depends how much I’m slacking when I’m doing it, how focused I am and a bunch of other factors. It’s not a particularly long time, but I guess it’s not trivial either. I guess it’s about the length of an average movie. Recently, I’ve been doing the chapters in one whole shot, as opposed to when I was doing Aku no Hana, a couple of pages at a time. Well, that required some research anyway as well, for all his poet references. Anyway, you can thank stopping WOW for giving me the time to do this XD. And lol, I just went to read the latest patch notes, of course, now that I’m not playing anymore, you buff rets, thanks Blizzard… -_-” And….I’ve gotten derailed again.

Right, to answer another guy, yes, there have been 3 volumes released. But that’s pretty meaningless in terms of how many chapters are out there. Currently, there are 45 chapters. Not including the oneshots and specials. The series is published by GANGAN online, which means the raws are already online when they are released and awesomely clean but they use a flash player and that makes grabbing the pics a slight pain (for me anyway at least, if anyone knows of an easier way to do it other than printscreen, feel free to inform me XD) Jcafe, last I checked, (about 5 mins ago) has the raws up to chapter 40. Not sure why they don’t have 41 to 45. New chapters come out every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Basically every 2 weeks. Each chapter remains online at GANGAN for about 5.5weeks and is then taken down. Chapter 44 is due to be taken down today so I screengrabbed it just in case. It still leaves 41-43 though but I suppose there are always chinese scans for that. Would really prefer to work from the raws though. Anyone who’s done a multiple translation back and forth languages using google translate knows that’s a bad idea. Well, I don’t think it’d be that bad but the less corrupt it is the better I suppose.

I’ll probably be slowing down slightly since decent progress has been made. Plus apparently, variety is the spice of life and I don’t particularly want to burn myself out.

Finally, thanks to all of you guys supporting me with your kind words! They are very much appreciated. And also for pointing out mistakes I make, because I sure as hell am not perfect. I’ll stop now because I don’t want to turn this into a 1000 word post…lol, getting close though.

Also, chapter 21’s the longest one so far, 18 pages. It’ll be out soon. ^^

tldr; well, if you’re only going to read this bit, you probably aren’t going to be interested in it anyway.

    just wanted to pop a comment here, love the new layout of the website =] (I just came here a few minutes ago and it was way different).

    I wish you good luck with scanlating these, and I definitely suggest that you work on other things in the meantime; since I know I would also be burned out on the manga if I kept working on it.

    The way you pushed out those releases puts alot of groups to shame not only translating but cleaning as well, your good in terms of turnaround time, even if you do slow down, look how much you pushed out daily not even weekly it was daily i think that in itself diserves clapping, Ill ask my friend in terms of how to pull off flash player, there is a trick but i think it involves the use of a program in which you capture the flash and save to the drive, its a special program i remmebr my friend telling me once, similar to saving the video and using that program to do the screen captures in jpg form without having to do print screen. Ill try to find the name of the program to assist with the online captures of the chapters

    @craptastic
    ahaha… actually it’s not i’m bothered by speedy release… but i just wondering why… and it’s not that i’m not pleased, actually i’m happy if i can read the update about manga i like ASAP…
    disadvantages on working in groups are you never know if someone from your group you’re working on is went MIA… and i think you know how is the outcome… for a small groups this mean got delayed in releasing new chapter which is might take turn for worse if theres no new staffs joining since everyone is “specialized” in their fields…
    for worse, you might got some scolding or complaints from other if you’re slow.
    maybe its because of RL issues, but still you’ve got deadline if you’re working in groups, since its a pretty much decided about the time limit for submitting your work, you can not really retort if someone complaining about your slow works (you’re choosing to be dedicated on your work within the time limit, but in the end you let yourself fail and disappointing others). especially for cleaners… well… redrawing is sucks… i know it very well since i’ve been doing it some other time… and its becomes frustrating if you are the only cleaner for some project(s)… i mean “hey, what the hell! i’m still not done with this, don’t shove me another work”
    and i think i might stop my rambling here… Lol…
    Anyway, thanks for the speedy release… ganbatte ne…

    @alexp yes the wallpaper is from the secret world(dragon faction to be precise)

    And to keep the post on topic, wow 2 hours for 13ish pages not bad at all.
    Hell of a lot faster then when I try to translete. Your japanese must be pretty good then.

    My Holy Paladin friend has also stopped playing due to the lack of proper balancing for HPally in PvP. >_>;

    On topic though (but that earlier comment was also kinda on topic about the off topic… ahh nevermind), it’s great that you made a huge push for it and I don’t know what other people are complaining about if you’re releasing too fast. I guess life goes on better if you ignore certain things.

    Thanks again for your releases. ^_^

      Lol yea, trying to get to a frost mage wasn’t pretty either with all the slows and spellstealing… A glance at the recent patch notes show Blizzard finally acknowledging that spellsteal just might be a bit imba… haha.

    I really appreciate your work, keep up the good work and you should take a break from translating once in a while, and nice wallpaper.

    Great job on doing these speedy Scanlations.

    I really appreciate the work you have been doing up until now.

    Fujimura-kun Meitsu is a great manga with a lot of randomness!
    I would not be surprised if I see cows flying in the next chapter.

    And again I like your work. Keep working on these series!

    Funny, I’ve also recently quit WOW, and am considering picking up Japanese and Photoshop to screw around with scanlating. I’m really enjoying this series, props for putting in the time to share it with the English-reading community!

    I think it’s funny how all the old raiding content is getting nerfed across the board in the coming patch… because it’s so hard right now. Why not just make all the bosses into vendors who sell you their loot for the cost of a light repair bill -_-

    Whether fast release, or once a week. I’m fine eitherway. Just go for whichever pace you feel comfortable. I’m already more than thankful for your releases. Keep up the good work!
